A combination of Unexpected Performance Piece and Bodyscapes #3 - Night Sky. The spiraling shape, superimposed on the figures is reminiscent of our spiraling movements in the Unexpected Performances, as well as of under sea life, and Australian Aborigines’ dreamtime.
This is a canvas scroll of biomorphic dreamer figures in a continuous procession.
The Bodyscapes Series evolved from the last Dreamers paintings, similar in that they are figurative but more organically abstracted, biomorphic. They also appear to be continents on a global map.
This image appeared before my eyes as I was working the background and I brought it out whole.
This piece is a culmination of the Dreamers Series of 2005 revisited in 2015-17 in synthesis with the Unveiling Series of 2009. Two opposite facing heads continue the imagery of suspended and transparent figures unwrapping.
the warm earth tones of the room work well with the blues of this painting. Calm ethereal image in a quiet setting.
The figure's and the cocoons’ transparent bodies are drawn with charcoal and with oil pastels, so all layers become visible. I see the cocoons here as wire figures of neon light.
Done in 2015, revisiting and expanding on the 2005 Dreamers Series. The figures’ transparent bodies are drawn with charcoal, so all layers remain visible. This recent series captures the synthesis that I intended, of the mediums, themes and images that have pervaded my lifetime of artmaking
Suspended in a dream state, the figures in the Dreamers series from 2005, and in the revisited Dreamers Series of 2016-17, are in various stages of cocooning and unwrapping. This image feels nautical and luminescent.
This is the first painting in the Dreamers Series of cocooned figures suspended in dream states based on the previous series of Shadows and Dreams.
